2. The Journal of Japan Industrial Management Association and Communications of Japan Industrial Management Association

Since 1951, our Association has issued the Journal of Japan Industrial Management Association (Japanese title was changed in June 1974). In 1991 we issued Communications of Japan Industrial Management Association, and have compiled a variety of featured articles. In doing so, we have provided support for applied research on industrial management conducted at companies. In 1996 we changed the Japanese title of the Journal of Japan Industrial Management Association by adding the Japanese word for “thesis.” We have strived to improve the quality of theses while also publishing a variety of them. These publications have been thought of highly by universities and companies.

3. Research Presentation Conferences

Conferences are held twice a year (spring and fall).

Presentation conferences for research findings, research presentations, publication of proceedings (theoretical research, basic research, applied research, empirical research, industry-academia collaborative research, presentations of case studies conducted by companies), special lectures, general assembly meetings (held annually), social gatherings, seminars, lectures, plant tours.

4. International Conferences

Participants include researchers from universities and companies as well as university students.

The International Conference on Production Research (ICPR) is an international conference in the field of industrial management. It is held at different locations across the globe once every two years. From Japan, 70 to 80 researchers from universities and companies, as well as postgraduate students, are in attendance each time, including those that make presentations. The presentations made by Japanese researchers are the main attraction for the researchers from abroad. The main theme of the conference is: “researching new forms of management for industries, and the fundamentals of their application.” The 14th conference, which was held in Osaka, Japan in 1997, was conducted with the support of the Science Council of Japan (Section V Engineering and Section III Management).
